oh where oh where have i been...... you know i think about blogging every day... i even take pictures all the time of things i want to blog about.. and then... . life happens.... busy happens.... I am still here.. alive and kicking! so much has happened in July oh where to start...
Spent the 3rd of July (anthem celebrates on the 3rd) @ my sisters house... family BBQ, watching fireworks... on the 4th - we invited some friends over on Friday and we headed over to the waterpark w. the kids... WELL - the waterpark closed (the open pools were still open) due to a swarming of bees.. they had the fire department there... . guys in serious bee suits... hoses with who knows what inside... so we hung in the big pool part to see if it would blow over... nope... so we scrambled home to swim and jump in our own pool instead of being elbow to elbow with crazy kids and cranky adults.. hahah
The first part of July went by so darn fast. Will decided he wants to play hockey like his big bro... so we started beginner skating classes.. (a requirement, to start at the beginning and work your way through the classes... On his first day he was promoted right to Basic Hockey, skipping right to the 3rd class... yay.. that boosted his confidence and saved us some money.......
So far he has loved it.. He just graduated from from the Basic Hockey class and will be going into the Hockey Initiation Program (IP) in September... that will last until March. Hank starts house league in mid September as well.. Two boys in hockey is expensive.. but we are firm believers in supporting their desire to sports... will have a most positive effect on their self esteeem - and keep them from idle time.. we all know what happens to kids w. idle time.. hahah
We had a family BBQ this month at my nephew's house.. what a blast! We had a great time swimming, and playing ROCKBAND.. oh i am so hooked! and chillin' with the fam....
Due to our impending financial hiccup.. we were unable to make a big family reunion in Colorado for Jeff's family this year... it was dissappointing for us and family not to go.. but it was just not a good financial decision for us.. and now I realize our gut instincts were spot on.....
I was laid off last week.. yuppers... I work as a contract labor - and can be let go anytime for any reason.. I worked in this job for almost 2 years... but - the client we support (Ameriprise) was hit pretty hard by the economy turn.. so they had to let some people go... i am torn - not all that dissappointed.. it was a great job, great oppportunity and great money but completely and utterly unfullfilling... now the job hunt is on... i hit it hard last week.. updating my resume contacting everyone that I know... i have applied to a bozillion jobs.... only one hit so far.. a GREAT job for the American Cancer Society.. the pay is super low.. it's doable.. but super low.. but it is at a company that I would LOVE LOVE to work for... if you know me, you know my passion for the ACS...
It's interesting.. we went out a few fridays ago to a going away happy hour for a coworker who became a good friend... and after that night... i was really thinking about how i miss being outside in the workforce, instead of working at the house... working from home is very isolating.. and it doesn't afford anyone to make friends, etc... have a sense of SELF outside of the house and kids.. i realized how much i miss that.. i guess that was my way of mentally preparing myself for the layoff before I even knew about it...
more later.... bugs bugs bugs... are coming.. ew and I have pictures!
